JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — The Mississippi Department of Education held a hearing to determine if a Greenville teacher should lose her license.
The Commission on Teacher and Administrator Education, Certification and Licensure and Development decided that Linda Winters-Johnson’s teaching license will be suspended for 12 years.
The hearing was held Wednesday.
She was caught on video dragging a student by the hair at a high school gym in September.
An investigator for the case took the stand sharing facts. Principal Xavier Hodo also gave his testimony. He said he recommended for Johnson to be terminated after hearing about what she had done to the student. He sent a letter to the superintendent making the recommendation.
Superintendent Dr. Leeson Taylor was let go from his position. Johnson was also terminated from her job.
She apologized on the stand for her actions.
