MORTON, Miss. – The city of Morton sees their second murder of the year and police believe a former Mississippi State football player is to blame.
Now with one man dead and another injured police are investigating a shooting.
Quay Evans, 24 is a former defensive lineman for Mississippi State University.
Right now he is sitting in the Scott County Detention Center along with his brother.
Police believe the two are connected to a weekend murder.
The shooting happened Saturday night sometime after 10 o’clock.
Morton Police were called out to a home in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Drive.
Police Chief Nicky Crapps says when his officers arrived 34-year-old Eddie Dozier was lying in blood.
Dozier was taken the hospital.
Also in that home was 22-year-old D.J. Palm, who was pronounced dead.
Quay Evans and his brother Samuel Evans were arrested Sunday morning each are charged with murder and attempted murder.
Chief Crapps also told WJTV that two weapons have been recovered near the crime scene.
One was found inside the home Sunday morning and the other was found today outside the home in the woods.
Both weapons are being processed at the crime lab.
This case is still under investigation.
