Councilman Stokes holds toy drive for kids in need

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A Jackson councilman is hoping to bring a little holiday cheer to Capital City kids.

Councilman Kenneth Stokes was out at the Medgar Evers Library Monday afternoon collecting toys.

“It’s really a labor of love,” said Mae Jones, who helped out with the toy drive. “Our office is very intentional on helping people in dire need.”

Councilman Stokes said toy drives are particularly important because some parents and grandparents may not be able to afford gifts for their kids or grandkids this season.
