JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A dog died after a house fire on Queen Theresa Lane in Jackson Tuesday.
Cleotha Sanders, Division Fire Chief, JFD Office of Fire Investigations said it happened around 11:15 a.m.
He said at least two people were home before the firefighters arrived. When they went inside to do a search, they found a dog in the house.
WJTV crews witnessed emergency responders trying to resuscitate the pet, but their attempts were unsuccessful.
Firefighters were able to put the flames out by 11:21 a.m. He said the preliminary investigation shows that the cause of the fire was possibly food on the stove.
