Man who threatened law enforcement in videos is admitted for mental health treatment

RANKIN CO., Miss. (WJTV) – Officials say Joseph Sharber Jr. has been admitted into an unnamed medical facility for possible mental health treatment after he made threats to officers.

Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason says he received notification from Sharber Sr., Joseph’s father, and helped Sharber take his son to the facility.

Officials say Joseph posted multiple videos on social media threatening officers and displaying weapons.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s department says they never take threats of this nature lightly.
