JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — Richard Schwartz held a Back to School Drive Friday at his Jackson office.
Community members were asked to come by and drop off school supplies for children.
We’re told this was in preparation for The Salvation Army’s Back To School Event on July 22.They have partnered with the City of Jackson to give out 2,500 backpacks filled with school supplies for students.
Schwartz, a well-known attorney, said the supplies are the foundation for a good education.
“There are a lot of kids out there that don’t have the tools or equipment they need to get a good education,” he said. “A lot of teachers are basically coming out of their pocket to make sure kids have rulers, pads, pencils, whatever is necessary.”
