FLORENCE, Miss. (AP) — Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey says the grandson of an elderly couple whose bodies were found in their home near Florence has been arrested in their deaths.
Bailey says in a news release that 22-year-old Zachary Alexander Stanford of Ocean Springs has been charged with two counts of murder. Stanford was being held Wednesday in the Rankin County Jail pending an initial court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
Baily identified the victims as 79-year-old Robert Faries and 77-year-old Peggy Faries. He says a neighbor saw the bodies Tuesday and called authorities.
Bailey says Magee police made the arrest when they caught Stanford on a traffic stop and noticed blood on his clothes and in his vehicle.
Bailey says the investigation is continuing.
