Braves and BayBears Postponed Again
The Mississippi Braves announce that Sunday night's doubleheader between the M-Braves and the Mobile BayBears has been postponed due to weather and rescheduled for Monday night.

The Mississippi Braves and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame & Museum will celebrate Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Night at Trustmark Park on Thursday August 28, 2008.
 
Grzanich tapped to lead Hinds softball
Mike Grzanich of Byram has been named as the new head women’s softball coach at Hinds Community College, pending board approval. The 36-year old was chosen on Thursday morning and will begin his new duties immediately. Grzanich will be making a new transition by switching to softball, but he is very familiar with the Raymond Campus. Grzanich has served as the pitching coach for the Eagles baseball program for the past three seasons, helping lead Hinds back to the state playoffs in 2008.

Lady Tigers open season with 3-0 victory over LSU-Shreveport
The Jackson State Lady Tigers opened their 2008 season Friday with a 3-0 victory over the LSU-Shreveport Lady Pilots. With the win, the Lady Tigers post a 1-2 overall record.

Longtime NFL union boss, Hall of Fame lineman Upshaw dies at 63
Gene Upshaw, the Hall of Fame guard who during a quarter century as union head helped get NFL players free agency and the riches that came with it, has died. He was 63. Upshaw died Wednesday night at his home in Lake Tahoe, Calif., of pancreatic cancer, which was diagnosed only last Sunday, the NFL Players Association said Thursday. His wife Terri and sons Eugene Jr., Justin and Daniel were by his side.
 
Braves pitcher Glavine undergoes elbow, shoulder surgeries
Atlanta Braves pitcher Tom Glavine underwent surgery on his left elbow and shoulder Thursday and is expected be ready for spring training. Glavine's partially torn tendon in his elbow was repaired by Dr. James Andrews, who also cleaned up Glavine's shoulder. The Braves said the 42-year-old left-hander should be able to start a throwing program by January.
